Eden Ridge YRE Climate Rise
As young reporters, we deem it our duty and responsibility to take a stand for the social and environmental injustices and issues in our communities. As part of this pledge, the Eden Ridge young reporters joined millions of people around the world to Rise for the Climate and become climate leaders at grassroots to ensure a better quality of life for our people.
Our Rise for Climate event, entitled #StopTrashingOurClimate, took place on the 7th of September 2018 at our school, Eden Ridge High School. Our audience were approximately 650 high school learners and the full component of teachers and support staff. Realising that our audience is a difficult one, we changed the form of engagement with them by raising awareness about climate change and its impacts in a way that the learners will enjoy and interact with. So, we came in protesting for the climate placards and all. The learners really enjoyed that and was immediately interested in what we were going to speak about.
